We played Hopetown on Saturday 19th October 2024
This October we ran a public play of our serious game Hopetown. This was a chance to get involved in tackling the ‘tomorrow problem’ of planning for healthy ageing – while also having fun!
In Hopetown, you will play as a member of a team, making decisions about providing services, building housing, and deciding the wellbeing of the fictional residents of Hopetown. Systems are complex, but Hopetown gives you the chance to be in-charge, and see how different people, communities and organisations with different aims have to work together.
The game was free to play, and took place on Saturday 19th October at the University of Stirling, as part of the Festival of Social Science. Hopetown is run by Socialudo, a social enterprise that develops and runs serious games for positive change.
This event is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2024 and was made possible thanks to funding from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), which is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
Come and help think about how we can tackle the challenges of creating age-friendly communities for the future, and have fun doing it!
