“Serious gaming takes us back to the freedom of being able to play like we did as infants, but with the added benefit of being able to bring our lived experience, wisdom, skills and knowledge as adults, to the experience. I believe this dynamic ‘duo’, super charges our creativity, allowing us to experiment and explore new models for thinking, working and being in the world, in a safe and supportive environment. ”
April is a development officer with Socialudo primarily focussed at organisational level, which involves developing and facilitating serious games to provide immersive and transformative learning and development experiences for communities, leaders, and operational and front facing teams. "Gameplay in our household is our core family activity time. We have a cupboard filled with various games including big board games such as Monopoly, right through to small card games like Uno. We tend to pick most of our games up from charity shops and then ‘binge’ play them for a few weeks before moving on to the next game. Our longest binges to date have been with Yahtzee, Boggle, Blokus, Ticket to Ride and Discovering Europe."

"The capacity to Metamorphosize would be my dream superpower. Being able to transform into different animals to experience their nature would be awesome e.g. changing into an Eagle and experiencing flight over mountains on a clear sunny day – bliss!"
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

"I have a seasonal approach to my hobbies. In the Autumn I tend to enjoy hunkering down in front of my open fire to read, paint and draw. In the spring and summer, I am usually elbows deep in soil, digging around and planting in one of my small gardens. I like to be active, and I enjoy Yoga and swimming. I am also currently teaching myself Level 1 piano."
